FAQ

We have compiled a list of frequently asked questions about our company, products and services. Please use it as a reference.

Company General

Q

Do you have any plans to launch a new business? If so, we would appreciate it if you could also tell us what kind of business it is.

A

We are a company with approximately 200 employees. We have been in business for about 60 years and are a second-generation owner-operated company.
Our main products are supplied to the semiconductor and FPD markets, but we have been trying to enter the medical device business as a new business for about 10 years. The medical device field is a growing industry, and technological advances and growing needs are expected. However, medical devices are subject to strict regulations. We would like to aim for sustainable growth, taking into account trends in healthcare policy.

Q

Do you have any overseas offices?

A

We have offices in Korea and China.
We have bases in Korea and China. We have production and sales bases in both countries.

Q

What do you consider to be the strengths of your company compared to your competitors?

A

We focus on education. We design, manufacture, inspect, and sell products in the vacuum field. These knowledge is not something that can be acquired quickly. Therefore, we are keenly aware that education is a key factor for our company. We have established the Mori-Ba-ri Academy, where employees create videos and teach newcomers, and we also offer AI seminars to those who wish to attend. Forty people have already attended such seminars.

Bellows Products

Q

What kind of materials should we select?

A

Depending on the environment in which the bellows will be used, materials with corrosion resistance, magnetism, and heat resistance will be selected. If there are no particular conditions to consider, we will consider materials that are more compact and less expensive within the specifications.

Q

How long is the service life?

A

If the conditions of use are clear, the service life will be set according to those conditions. If there are conditions that can be changed, we can consider the conditions under which the product can be used based on the specified life. As a general rule, the life expectancy is specified in the range of 10,000 to 1,000,000 cycles.

Q

Is it possible to make long bellows?

A

Longer bellows are subject to buckling and meandering due to springiness and pressure. This phenomenon inhibits smooth movement and may cause a decrease in service life, so it is necessary to provide a mechanism inside or outside the bellows to prevent buckling and meandering. The length is determined by considering the interference with structures around the bellows, etc. Please contact us.

Gate Valve Products

Q

Is maintenance required?

A

Maintenance is required. Types of maintenance include “daily inspection” to check O-rings, grease condition, etc., and “periodic maintenance” to replace O-rings and perform overhauls. We also offer services such as upgrades and retrofits to improve performance.
For details, please contact our sales or service departments.

Q

Do you have an overseas support system?

A

We have service offices and sales agents in Korea, China, and Taiwan.

Q

Can you replace O-rings in-house?

A

Yes, you can replace the valve plate O-ring by yourself by taking our training course. The use of a dedicated jig improves work efficiency and accuracy. Customized jigs are also available to suit your environment and purpose.
For details, please contact our sales or service departments.

Vacuum Equipment Products

Q

What size chambers do you offer?

A

The maximum production results are as follows
For stainless steel welded construction
Square shape: 1500 mm (W) x 1000 mm (D) x 800 mm (H)
Round shape: φ1000 x height 800
Various sizes other than the above are also available.

For machined aluminum alloy
Square: 1500 mm (width) X 1000 mm (depth) X 800 mm (height)
Round shape: φ1000 x height 800
We can also accommodate various sizes other than the above.

Q

I am not sure whether to use stainless steel or aluminum. Please let us know the advantages and disadvantages of each.

A

Stainless steel
Advantages:
Durability: Stainless steel is strong and durable. It is suitable for long-term use.
Corrosion resistance: Stainless steel is rustproof and resistant to corrosion.
High temperature resistance: Suitable for use in high temperature environments.
Weldability: Compared to aluminum, stainless steel is easier to weld and can be used for complex structures.

Disadvantages:
Weight: Stainless steel is relatively heavy, which is a disadvantage when light weight is required.
Cost: Stainless steel is more expensive than aluminum.

Aluminum material
Advantages:
Lightweight: Aluminum is lightweight and easy to move and handle.
Cost efficiency: Aluminum is relatively inexpensive.
Electrical and thermal conductivity: Aluminum has good electrical and thermal conductivity.
Gas release characteristics: In general, the rate of gas release is lower than that of stainless steel.
(However, degassing by high-temperature baking is not possible, and anodizing, an anodic oxidation process, releases more gas.)
Activation characteristics: Aluminum has lower intensity of induced radioactivity and better attenuation characteristics than stainless steel.

Disadvantages:
Low durability: Aluminum is softer and more easily scratched than stainless steel.
Low corrosion resistance: Aluminum is less corrosion resistant than stainless steel.

Which material to choose depends on your specific application and budget.
Stainless steel is better suited when durability and corrosion resistance are important, while aluminum may be a better choice when light weight and cost-effectiveness are desired.

Q

It is expected that the inside of the vacuum chamber will be hot. What precautions should we take in case of high temperatures?

A

Regarding sealing materials, use metal seals. When elastomer O-rings are used, water cooling is required to keep the temperature below the O-ring's normal heat resistance temperature.
Even in the case of metal seals, the heat resistance temperature of a typical copper gasket is about 400°C, so it is desirable to control the temperature so that it is lower than that.
The chamber body, if made of stainless steel, maintains mechanical strength up to about 500°C. However, a water-cooled jacket structure should be adopted on the chamber wall in consideration of the above-mentioned sealability issues and the safety of the surrounding environment.
Placing several non-contact polished heat shields inside the chamber is also effective in reducing radiation heat transfer.
